The Application Engineering team reviews customer enquiries, advises them on technical feasibility and design optimisation, and is the customer's technical contact during the sales phase until the contract is signed. In the role of Head of Application Engineering, you report directly to the Technical Managing Director.
Your contribution to the "big picture"
- In your new role, you will lead the team of international application development specialists covering topics such as batteries, Power2Gas (hydrogen), photovoltaics and off-grid/hybrid systems, both disciplinarily and professionally
- You support the sales department with technical support and independently take on the role of technical contact person including all related activities
- You are also responsible for managing internal stakeholders, suppliers and customers, including representing SMA Altenso
- You continuously develop our business processes and find solutions with regard to quality and costs in the portfolio
- You take over the negotiation of technical topics with customers as well as with sub-suppliers in the project.
Your skills are needed
- Degree in engineering with more than 5 years of professional experience in the field of battery storage, hydrogen, or photovoltaics
- Experienced leader and passionate about people management, deep technical understanding, and affinity for customers
- Experience with creating successful bids for utility-scale power plants for renewable energy or storage applications and a foundation of business acumen
- Networking in the market and derivation of development trends as well as in-depth knowledge of storage systems, battery technologies, photovoltaics and/or Power2Gas systems
- Very good German and English skills and a general willingness to travel
